COMBINED HONORS PROGRAMS


FRENCH

Approved Combinations: Anthropology, Classical Studies, Comparative Literature and Civilization, Economics, English, Film Studies, German, Greek, History, Latin, Linguistics, Media, Information and Technoculture, Philosophy, Political Science, Religious Studies, Russian, Sociology, Spanish, Visual Arts, or Women's Studies. These combinations are also available at the affiliated colleges.

First Year

French 020E or 021

Second Year

French 271 and at least one of French 290E or 295.
The Department recommends an additional course chosen from French 232E, 242E or 252E for students who do not take both 290E and 295. French 295 is the prerequisite for further studies in French linguistics, and French 290E is the prerequisite for further studies in French literature.

Third Year

French 381 plus at least one full-course equivalent chosen from 300-level French courses.

Fourth Year

Two full-course equivalents chosen from 400-level French courses or any 300-level French course not previously taken, including at least one of French 473a/b, 474a/b (Huron), or 475a/b.

Notes

  1. The Combined Honors program must include at least one of French 473a/b, 474a/b (Huron), or 475a/b, and one full literature course equivalent at the 300-level and/or 400-level; or at least one of 397a/b, 398a/b and one of 473a/b, 474a/b (Huron), or 475a/b.
  2. Neither second year translation course (French 273 or French 277) may be taken concurrently with either third year translation course (French 383 or French 387).
