Course Description

Film Studies 257F/G Contemporary Film

An examination of recent directions in both North American and international film. The course deals with representative works in the fields of feature film-making, documentary and avant-garde cinema, with new developments in the production and distribution of films, and new directions in film theory and criticism.

Antirequisite: The former Film 157F/G.
Prerequisite: At least 60% in Film Studies 020E, and at least 60% in all subsequent Film Studies courses, or permission of the Department.
1 3-hour lecture/screening, 2 lecture/seminar hours, half course.
