Course Description

Earth Sciences 361a/b Invertebrate Paleontology

Introduction to the major groups of fossil-forming invertebrates and their applications to geochronology, paleoenvironmental reconstruction, paleoecology, and biological evolution and extinction. Laboratory work includes a survey of invertebrate fossils and a one-day field trip to Devonian fossilferous sites.

Prerequisites: Earth Sciences 020 or equivalent, or Biology 022, 023
2 lecture hours, 3 laboratory hours, half course.
