Course Description

Differential Equations 215a Ordinary Differential Equations

Introduction to first order differential equations, linear second and higher order differential equations with applications, complex numbers including Euler's formula, series solutions, Bessel and Legendre equations, existence and uniqueness, introduction to systems of linear differential equations.

Antirequisites: Mathematics 305b or the former Mathematics 225a/b.
Prerequisites: A minimum mark of 60% in Calculus 081a/b or a minimum mark of 55% in Calculus 051a/b or Applied Mathematics 026 or the former Applied Mathematics 020 or 024a/b or the former Mathematics 027.
Pre- or corequisite: Linear Algebra 040a/b, or the former Mathematics 202a.
3 lecture hours, 1 laboratory hour, half course.
