English 230E Canadian Literature in English from the Colonial Period to 1914 (Survey)

The study of Canadian literature in English from its foundations in the writings of early explorers and settlers to the generation that comes of age in World War I. Poetry, prose and fiction will be read in relation to the social, cultural, and political development of the nation.

Antirequisite: English 274E and 231F/G
Prerequisite: At least 60% in a 020-level English course, and at least 60% in all subsequent English courses, or permission of the department.
