Course Description

Statistical Sciences 241a/b Applied Statistics for Engineers and Scientists

An introduction to statistics with emphasis on applications to problems in Engineering and Science. Topics covered include samples, probability, selected probability distributions, estimation, tests of hypotheses, comparison of means, comparison of variances, correlations and regression, analysis of variance, design of experiments and statistics of extremes. Cannot be taken for credit in any 3-year BSc program in statistics or honors program in statistics or actuarial science.

Antirequisites: All other courses or half-courses in Introductory Statistics except Statistical Sciences 023a/b, 024a/b.
Prerequisite: A course in calculus.
3 lecture hours, half course.
