Course Description

Biology 314a Cellular Physiology

(Given by the Department of Physiology). A survey of principles of cellular physiology including membrane, ion channel, receptor, and transport protein function, and signal transduction mechanisms.

Prerequisites: Physics 020, 022, 024, or 025; one full course or equivalent, chosen from the following: Mathematics 030, or Calculus 050a/b, plus one of the following: Calculus 051a/b, 081a/b, Linear Algebra 040a/b, Mathematics 028a/b; or the former Applied Mathematics 020, or 023a/b plus 024a/b, or the former Mathematics 027; Biology 022 or 023; or permission of the Department. It is strongly recommended that Biology 280a and 282b be taken in second year. Open only to students who have completed two years of a program.
