The rise of communications media has been closely linked to the development of new technologies and their use within specific social and historical contexts. The aim of this course is to explore the idea of technology in culture and society and will include readings from some of the key contributors to our present understanding of media and technology. Issues concerning ideology, representation, discourse, artistic practice, and gender will be addressed. |
Antirequisite: MIT 256F if taken inn 2000-2001; MIT 252b if takne in 1999-2000. |
Prerequisite: :Any MIT 020 level course or permission of the instructor. |
