Course Description

Media, Information and Technoculture 201F/G Political Exonomy of Media

Examines social relations, particularly power relations, that mutally constitute the production, distribution, organization and consumption of information resources. Considers the economic dynamics, especially the unequal distribution of material and symbolic resources, that structure the circulation of informaiton commodities. A central question is: How are social relations mediated by information technologies?

Antirequisite: Media, Information and Technoculture 246F/G.
Prerequisite: Media, Information and Technoculture 025a/b, 026a/b, and Computer Science 031a/b.
