Applied Mathematics 291b Mathematical Methods for Chemistry II

Matrix algebra, sets of equations, determinants, eigenvalues, coupled differential equations; Max-min problems, Lagrange multipliers, least squares; partial differential equations, separation of variables, Laplace, diffusion, wave equations; series and transforms, Fourier series, functions defined by integrals, Stirling's formula, Fourier and Laplace transforms.

Prerequisite: Applied Mathematics 290a.
3 lecture hours, 1 laboratory/tutorial hour, half course.
