Award Description

The Avie Bennett Prize in Canadian Literature

Awarded annually for the best essay written by an undergraduate student registered at the Constituent University in a Canadian Literature or drama course offered by the Department of English. Annually, each instructor of an undergraduate course in Canadian literature or drama will be invited to recommend the best essay submitted for credit within the current academic year. In exceptional cases, an instructor may recommend two essays. The essays must be submitted for adjudication by April 30. The Chair of the Department of English will name a panel of three Canadian literature specialists to review the submissions and, within three weeks of the submission deadline, select the recipient. Established by Mr. Avie Bennett and The Bennett Family Foundation.

$500 plus a complete set of The New Canadian Library
